Using Yoast SEO 5.0.1 and the latest version of WP, clicking on “Count Links” shows a popup saying “Text 0 of xx processed.” and the following error message is shown in the Chrome console:

As requested, I habe disabled *every* other plugin besides Yoast SEO. I have deleted cookies and cleared browser data, makes no difference. I can confirm that the two new tables have been created in the database, but they don’t contain any data.

EDIT: As I update posts manually, I can see that the tables are being populated.

Let me know if I can help track this down any further.

    Cheers, Robert

  • Can you please check if the problem still occurs in the following situations?

    • When all non-Yoast plugins are deactivated and your theme is on Twenty Seventeen
    • When you use another browser (i.e. Firefox)

Sure – I deactivated all plugins except Yoast 5.0.1 and switched the theme to the latest version of Twenty Seventeen.

In Firefox, I don’t see any error message in the console, but there is also no progress in the progress bar (stuck at “Text 0 of xx processed”). I left the page open for more than 10 minutes.

    In MS Edge I receive the following error message;

SCRIPT7002: XMLHttpRequest: Network Error 0x2eff, Could not complete the operation due to error 00002eff.

Chrome still shows the same error message as reported above.

Anything else I can try to help get this fixed?

    Cheers, Robert

We made some adjustments to the text link counter in version 5.0.2. Can you update and see if the issue is resolved with the changes we made.

If not, can you please submit the issue to our GitHub repository for Yoast SEO? Thanks!

I did test version 5.0.2 the moment it was released and it did not fix the issue for me. I have tested it again with three browsers, with the same result.

Currently I don’t have a GitHub account, but I might look into it.

    Hi Robert,

Were you able to submit that issue to our submit the issue to our GitHub repository for Yoast SEO?

If you are not sure what to add this guide may help: https://kb.yoast.com/kb/how-to-write-a-good-bug-report/

    Hi!

Same problem here, the progress bar stuck at “Text 0 of xx processed” ^^

@magicfilou If you have a similar issue, can you please open a new request? That way it’s easier to track issues and provide assistance. Thanks!

After reviewing my nginx configuration, I found an entry which blocked access to /wp-json/ on my server, probably for security purposes. Removing this entry and restarting the server solved the issue with the counter for me.

Thanks for your help, I consider this issue resolved.
