Changing URLs is guaranteed to make that happen. Sometimes it’s another change to the site such as robots.txt telling crawlers from Facebook, Google+, LinkedIn, etc. to not crawl the site. Other times it’s a client-side ad-blocker add-on that’s filtering out API calls (for counts, etc.) to those services.

See what Facebook reports for a URL here:

Thanks Micropat. We susepct some of the URLs may have been changed. Would changing them back bring back the counts or are the counts lost forever?

Many of the posts had shares and they now all show 0.

    Cheers,

@zoe I’m not sure whether reverting back to the original URLs will restore those counts. AddToAny gets counts directly from the APIs of each supported service, and I suspect each service will vary to some degree in how long they retain those original counts. Can you report back? ??

Hi Micropat, we’re still looking for an answer to this issue. Apparently not all the blog URLs were changed and even historic blog posts have now gone to 0…

There hasnt been any change to the robots.tx but everything is 0 apart from new posts that have had shares in the last few days…

    Hi

On some sites, I’m using another sharing plugin, and there is now a warning about the need to have an API access to see the counter of likes :

Maybe it’s the same issue here ?

Hey, quite possibly – I can’t find any plugins that give the ability to enter API keys etc though. Do you know of any?

I’ve tried using a couple of other plugins with no luck, they all show the shares as 0. Some older ones have counts, and all new ones have counts, so no idea why these 0… I thought maybe it wasnt counting retweets anymore but it seems it does.

In fact one shows as 5 shares on twitter but I’ve searched and can only find one post with 2 retweets – very confusing!

Did you try Monarch from ElegantThemes ?
