• Hi there,

I’ve been using your plugin for around 5 months or so now and absolutely love the functionality, especially the ability to add before/after text and have everything replaced with different text when the countdown ends.

I have noticed that if I leave the page with the countdown on open, it gradually falls behind real time. This is a bit of an issue for me as I use it to inform customers of product launches. I have stock that often sells as soon as it goes live, which means customers could miss out because the countdown ended a few seconds too late and somebody else bought the product they were patiently waiting for.

I had a play with it today and can see that it’s losing about 1.5 seconds per minute. So leaving it running for half an hour meant it was 40 seconds behind real time – some of my customers do leave the window open for 20+ minutes before a product launch waiting for the countdown to end, so this could be a source of potential frustration for them.

I’m no programmer, so I don’t know if this is possible, but could something be done so the plugin periodically checks the server time (say once a minute) and re-adjust itself if it’s out?

Many thanks for any help/advice you can give. ??

    Kind regards,

    Rebecca

    Hi again,

The countdown on the link above has expired, so I’ve made a test page if you want to see it working: https://www.undeadteds.com/countdown/

    Kind regards,

The plugin uses resources of your local computer and browser.
So what is your setup? Also are you leaving the countdown tab active, or leaving it open in an inactive tab and coming back to it? Which browser are you using?

The countdown does does self check and adjust, but we’ll have to do more more testing to see if this is an issue we can reproduce on our end.

    Hi Baden,

I’ve tried both leaving the tab active and literally watching it, and leaving it open in an inactive tab while I do something else. I can see the time loss by watching it for as little as 1-2 minutes.

I’m using Safari 9 on OSX El Capitan. I’m also able to reproduce the issue on my iPhone 6.

    Kind regards,

    Rebecca
