Country overwritten with US when importing CSV

I am importing a CSV setup as directed in the Import/Export section of the SimpleMap dashboard, using the suggested header labels, and the country for every entry get overwritten to United States once they are imported. I am specifying a country column with international locations but the plug-in doesn’t seem to be recognizing any of the data. I have also tried importing a CSV with the latitude and longitude already set but I am still getting the same results. Is there something goofy in the plug-in code that would do this?
