Country select problem after update

Yes, I have removed the ? from Country. It seemed like the right thing to do at the time, but none of the other fields have a question mark so it will be gone in 1.23.0

The only way to solve your language file issue is to send me your edits so I can include them in the plugin file. If there are errors in the language file I would like to have them fixed for everyone.

I have added an improved Italian translation file in 1.23.1, the most recent release. Perhaps you should check if Davide fixed the same errors you were finding.

One other thing about countries. Instead of English, I am considering having the list of countries be in their local language so Italy would be Italia, Aghanistan would be ????????? etc.

Any thoughts on that?

Yes, the question mark is gone in the next release. The style of the list looks different because it is a list and all the others are text input fields. Can you explain how you would like to appear differently. I am not sure what the problem with this is as it is a minor user interface issue.

Maintaining languages is a major hassle. Any changes to text in the plugin have to be translated into each language and then manually updated in each language file. There are about 200 countries, the amount of work involved in translating them all for each language and then updating isn’t going to happen in a free plugin.

I have just spent a lot of time using a list of countries in their own language and I have added the English name after it e.g. ????????? (Afghanistan) or Italia (Italy). It seems like a good compromise to me.

If someone else is willing to do all the translations for each country I am happy to include it, but I think it is overkill.

Thanks so much for your answer. I don’t know why, but before the last update the style of countries list was the same of the other fields. Maybe I lost some edit I did to CSS? I imagine that translating countries for each language is an enormous task and agree with you. I will be happy to help if you will need in future.
