    Hi,

We are using the Smart Coupons for WooCommerce plugin to create and manage coupons, and it is functioning well overall. However, an issue arises when the shopping cart includes a product excluded from the coupon’s application.

Currently, if a product excluded from the coupon is added to the basket, the coupon becomes invalid for all items in the cart, even for products that are eligible. For instance, if there are 9 products in the basket that qualify for the coupon, but 1 excluded product is also added, the coupon fails with the message: “Sorry, this coupon is not applicable for selected products.”

It would be more practical if the coupon could still apply to eligible products, even when excluded items are present in the basket. This functionality would enhance the user experience and ensure partial coupon application where applicable.

When I deactivated this plugin, It works perfectly. I’ve created three coupon codes for testing purpose “,supportpercentage, supportfixedbasket, supportfixedproduct ” (Orders Shall not be fulfilled if the order contains this coupon code. Testing purpose only )

    https://sendelightgifts.com/ this is our website.

    Products that excluded: https://sendelightgifts.com/shop/theme-packs/bundle-pack-set-12/

    applicable for coupon: https://sendelightgifts.com/shop/5-senses/alien-in-space-craft/

    https://sendelightgifts.com/shop/5-senses/touch-5-senses/messy-play/alien-egg-with-baby-large/

Please help us to resolve this issue. Thank you!

    Hi?@krishkerckhoffs ,

    Greetings from WebToffee Support!

Thank you for reaching out regarding your concern. We appreciate the detailed explanation and the test cases you’ve set up for troubleshooting.

The ‘Exclude from Coupons’ option in the plugin currently functions such that if a product with this option enabled is in the cart, the coupon will not be applied, even if the cart contains products that do not have this option enabled.

We understand that this behavior may not align with your expectations or desired functionality. We have acknowledged this limitation and are actively working on improving it in an upcoming release of the plugin.

In the new behavior under development:

    • Percentage and Fixed Product Coupons: The coupon will apply, but the discount will only be applied to eligible (non-excluded) products in the cart. Products with the ‘Exclude from Coupons’ option enabled will not receive any discount.
    • Fixed Cart Discounts: If a product with the ‘Exclude from Coupons’ option enabled is present in the cart, the coupon will not apply at all. This is because this coupon type evaluates the cart’s overall eligibility.

This approach aligns with the existing WooCommerce ‘Exclude Products’ option on the coupon edit page.

We hope this explanation clarifies the current functionality and the enhancements planned for future updates. Please stay tuned for upcoming releases where these changes will be introduced.

If you have any further questions or need assistance, feel free to reach out.
