When I select the option to have a cover photo for my user page this makes the username move to the left and be hidden behind the profile photo so it cannot be read. If I disable the cover photo, the username is centred and so can be read though.

How can I have a cover photo and keep the username centred? Is there a setting I am missing please?

    Thanks

Sounds like an issue with your theme (doesn’t happen for me). Switch to a standard theme to test.

Ah yes that’s worked now with the standard 2020 theme. Guess I need to find a new theme I like!

    Thanks for your help ??

    No worries.

If you really like your current theme perhaps you can fix it with custom CSS.

The custom CSS would depend on what the actual issue is (not enough detail to know that).

Numerous ways to add it from the inbuilt Additional CSS section of the theme customiser, using a child theme, or a variety of plugins.

    Hi @champsupertramp

I’ve tried quite a lot of custom themes (20+) but I have the same issue with all of them, the username alignment only seems to work if using a standard. Is there a way to change the position of the username on the user profile page please?

    (@troventrip)

Update: it appears to be something to do with the screen width. The username is centred and displays fine when looking on my phone or tablet in portrait mode, but on my tablet in landscape and on my laptop the username shifts to the be left aligned and goes hidden behind the profile photo.

I’ve tried changing the Profile Width settings to make it both wider and narrower but neither seems to make a differnce.

    Any help is much appreciated!

    Hi @troventrip

Could you please provide screenshots so we can see the issue clearly?

I wasn’t sure of the best way to provide the screenshots so have created a page on my site with them, hope that’s ok ??

    Hi @troventrip

    Sorry for the late response.
Could you please confirm if this window resize affects the styles with a default WP theme e.g. 2020 or 2019 theme.

    Hi @champsupertramp

No problem, I appreciate you getting back to me.

It works fine with the default themes 2020 and 2019. It just appears to be with (all) custom themes that I’ve tried, and I’ve tried quite a lot.

    Thanks

    Hi @troventrip

Could you please try playing with the Profile form settings? Please see the screenshot:
    https://drive.google.com/file/d/1KkQa3NIGYnhzpx8xdFWR6MxSRJxlTuT8/view?usp=sharing

    Try adjusting the following:
    – Max. Width (px)
    – Profile Area Max. Width (px)
    – Profile Photo Size
    – Cover photo ratio
    – Cover Photo Size

@champsupertramp Thanks, I’ve already tried playing around with all of those settings and none of them changed anything with my theme. I’ve also been playing around with CSS code this week with no success, but I’ve also been unable to change other things such as colours and font styles on my theme with CSS too. So I’m guessing the theme has some restrictions which may be causing this conflict.

Due to these problems I’ve now found a different theme which is more customisable and also works correctly with UM ,so the User page displays correctly and I don’t have this issue.

If you’re interested for your own sake the theme I was using was BlogZ by GretaThemes

Thanks a lot for your help and suggestions.
