    Hello,
My dad’s hosting has been sold to another company and they “upgraded” him (whether he liked it or not) and in doing so, he could no longer reach his website (Server Not Found). Upon further inspection, cPanel, no longer shows that WordPress is installed as an application (My Applications (0)).

The new company’s tech support is non-existent/not replying to my emails. I actually thought they’d wiped his WordPress files, but they seem to be there. Does anyone know how to get cPanel to recognise that WordPress is installed and to use the files already there without wiping it all and starting again? What’s the quickest/easiest route?

    Many thanks for any help.

  • I think you should contact support for clarification. If email doesn’t work, then call.

Apart from that, you have 2 alternatives:
    a) If you have a backup of the project, move the project to another host. The problem with this could be the domain, which is probably still with the old hoster. Here you may also have to exert contractual pressure.
    b) Look for a cPanel-specialized community. However, it is questionable whether they will be able to help you, especially if you only have limited access to cPanel.

I went into Installatron Applications Installer in cPanel and imported a locally existing WordPress installation. Now it shows that WordPress is there under applications, but when I try to reach the website, it still says ‘Server Not Found’. I’ve looked over the wp-config file and it seems to be ok from the little I know.

Server not found sounds to me like a message that the domain is not (yet) pointing to the server on which you are making your settings. This is a task for domain hosting, i.e. the support of your hoster. We can’t help you with that here.

Thanks for your reply, Threadi. Support isn’t going to answer. Others have the same problem and they’ve been told “It’s not our problem”.

The host is still the same, just bought out by another company. I could ask my dad if he wants to move hosts.

Perhaps the DNS will update to fix the issue. Nothing has actually changed in terms of settings. It’s just that support deleted the WordPress app.

I’ll mark this as resolved for the moment until the DNS updates. Thanks.
