    I always appreciate the emails that Word Fence sends warning about newly discovered exploits and security breaches. I want to tell you about a scam email that I recently received. It doesn’t directly relate to WordPress but it will be an interest to a lot of people. Many website hosting services make use of an application called cPanel to manage a variety of hosting services. I recently received an email warning that my disk capacity was at 98%. It included links to login to cPanel to correct the problem. Knowing that I had not posted any new content to my site in several days I was suspicious. The links did not link to my site. The email was not generated by my hosting service. I reported it to the hosting provider which was grateful and said they had not seen the scam before. I thought customers of Wordfence might also benefit from such warning.

    Thanks for highlighting a point of interest for fellow security-conscious site owners. If an email similar to this ever seems to originate from your WordPress domain or you believe you are the victim of a breach that has not been detected, you can provide information and files (if applicable) to samples @ wordfence . com. I know that isn’t the case here, but that could be helpful for anybody referencing this topic.
