CPT ID order seems random

    I have a CPT and the ID numbers generated for each post isn’t chronological, it seems to be completely random.

    The last fiver in date order for example are 1614, 869, 865, 44, 805.

    Any ideas how can I get the post ID to form in numerical order? 1, 2, 3 etc…

    Not sure what to tell you or what may be going on with this. The IDs assigned to the posts aren’t something we have any influence on. I know that there are a LOT of unseen/”hidden” post types since WordPress core has a lot they use internally, that’d also so start taking up IDs and cause larger jumps between ID values.

    That said, I’ve never seen or heard of anything that would seemingly randomize which value gets used, it’s always been sequential as far as I’m aware.
