    Hi Hector

I’ve been using the plugin at my sidebar for more than 5 months without any problem.Yesterday I modified my theme using the shortcode for implementing the plugin also at the post pages, but today I received a notification from my hosting service reporting a CPU resources abuse issue.

Using twice the WPP plugin could cause the resources abuse?

    Thanks

    Hi there!

… today I received a notification from my hosting service reporting a CPU resources abuse issue.

CPU abuse? What exactly did they tell you?

    Hi Hector

According to the notification, my account has been abusing CPU resources for an extended period of time. As a result all of my sites have been cached in order to ensure continued performance stability of the server. They limit each account to no more than 25% of a system’s CPU at the shared server.

I don’t think is a matter of traffic, since yesterday 20000 people visited my site and sometimes the site reaches more than 25000 and everything works perfect. The only thing I did was adding the WPP shortcode to the single.php file

This sounds like something that has been going on for more than a day. You may want to confirm it with your hosting.

With that being said, under certain circumstances WPP may slow down your site. However, I don’t think 20k / 25k visits per day such be a problem if your site is hosted on a good server (as you said yourself, too).

What other plugins are installed on your sites?

I have in my site Disqus, Facebook Comments, Google Analyticator, JW Player 6, New RoyalSlider, WordPress Popup, Soliloquy Lite, SI CAPTCHA Anti-Spam, WordPress SEO, Wp-Insert, WP-Polls, WP Super Cache, WP to Twitter, upPrev and WPP

But I have had the same plugins for more than 5 months. After the change I did yesterday there wasn’t any CPU abuse issue.

None of these plugins you mentioned should cause a heavy use of the CPU, IMHO. And, of course, you should also be able to use multiple instances of WPP (otherwise I’d be getting more of these reports from more people :P)

I’m not sure if its even possible on a shared hosting but it’d be nice if you could get some more detailed information from your hosting to figure out what’s going on. For example:

    • You said that you have multiple sites under your account. Was it one specific site that caused the CPU issue? If so, was it the one you added the shortcode to? Was it another one? Or was it the sum of all of your sites that made your hosting limit your account?
    • What specifically was hogging the CPU?

    Hi Hector

Definitively, multiple instances of WPP weren’t the cause of the CPU abuse issue. Yesterday the traffic of my site exceeded 24000 visits and the site didn’t pass the 25% of the CPU resources. At this time everything is working fine.

I think the cause of the problem wasn’t related with the plugin at all.

    Thanks for your help!
    !Muchas gracias!
