• Events Calendar (and Pro) used to be spectacular, and was in our defaults for every client that even thought about needing a calendar. We excitedly promoted them for more than a decade, and loved being able to really make calendars look like the site, rather than just a plugin.

But, Ever since Modern Tribe sold them off, it has been UTTER CRAP. When they moved to the new version of pro (version 6+), it broke so many things and cost us incalculable time diagnosing, fixing and apologizing to clientele that we stopped using it, unless clientele required it. While they have fixed some of the bugs, it is slow, buggy, temperamental, and scares us every single time there is an update. They don’t appear to test anything anymore. They rely on all of us to beta test for them. The fact that they still don’t understand that some people move out of Pro because their needs change, but then the site breaks because their update scripts see Pro history and don’t know how to continue without it. That is a complete game ender for us now that we see how they handle it.

They keep making changes that break other necessary ECP plugins, like Event Page Builder. It will KILL a site running both. It grinds a site to a halt and will end up making the site unusable for both end users and admins.

If I could give them a ZERO, I would. Their buggy crap costs clients. Their support only does what is absolutely critical, and fail to realize the new 6 Pro platform is a flipping mess, and needs to be thrown out and replaced. They had the absolute best calendar platform for WordPress. We paid a fortune to them over the years and would have continued to do so, if they actually took responsibility for the disaster that is the 6 Pro platform, and actually fixed the core of it that is causing issues. And, they have the audacity to keep raising prices, with the Pro version being a mess. We are at the stage of wishing we had NEVER even started using them in the first place.

We truly appreciate you taking the time to share your honest experience. We hear you loud and clear, reliability and stability are absolutely critical, and we regret that recent updates have not met the high standards you rightfully expect from us.

The move to version 6 was a significant step for us to ensure full compatibility with WordPress 6+ and to future-proof the plugin for upcoming updates. We recognize that this transition introduced challenges and disruptions. We acknowledge that some of our recent releases introduced issues that slowed workflows. While we did follow up with hotfixes within the same week to address the most pressing concerns, we understand that any downtime or unexpected changes can be frustrating and costly. That’s not the experience we want for our users, and it’s something we are actively working to improve.

Feedback like yours is invaluable in pushing us forward. We are committed to making meaningful improvements, including more rigorous pre-release testing, better support, and more proactive communication. We recognize the responsibility we have to our long-time users, and we don’t take that lightly.

Thank you again for your feedback.

I hate it to. I buy pro, but i cant activate it. I dont know where.

@hgtechoil let me provide direction here. First, download the free plugin and then install the pro version. You can get both from your account page, and the license key will be added automatically. I also recommend creating a support ticket in our helpdesk so we can assist you properly while following .org forum guidelines for pro/premium plugins. Let us know if you need further help!

@abzlevelup I appreciate your quick response and reiterating our concerns. It is not always easy to open up about challenges, but at the same time, that has been the same message being re-articulated for a year now. At some point, something has to be done to change the pattern. As agencies, developers, we are your front line. We get those 3am calls/text messages, too. We have to justify why we still keep EC (and ECP) platform as an option. We have to apologize for organization’s sites failing and becoming slower than an Apple ][ running Blender. Friday was probably the last straw for us. We are most likely going to lose a really good client today, and not for our work, but instead because the site is unstable and unreliable.

We’re done hearing the same stuff from TEC. We want to hear publicly what you are going to do about it for everyone using EC and ECP. We want to see you firmly commit to truly fixing the platform from the foundational aspects that keep failing it. We want to see you stop raising prices on anything, UNTIL you show your platform is worth it. Right now, it is not.

So, I am going to ask again. What is StellarWP’s plan to fix the foundational issues that keep plaguing the plugins? Are you going to fix the fact that anyone that ever used Pro runs into hurdles if they ever revert to standard? What is being done to alleviate the serious slowdowns (or fatal errors) that randomly plague sites using the plugin?

    Nothing, huh?

Hey, just got back! Regarding the challenges when reverting from Pro to the standard version, we understand that the transition hasn’t been smooth with you and couple of our users. We’re taking notes on that and from our previous migration to v6, working towards making future transitions more seamless. For Premium plugins, they should continue to work as long as you have a valid license. If your license expires, you won’t be able to receive updates, but the core functionality should still be available.

Yes, we’re actively working on improvements to prevent issues like the one you’ve encountered. Performance optimizations, especially in addressing slowdowns, optimizing queries, improving QA regarding stability concerns, are a top priority for our team. Internal discussionsare already underway, and we’re exploring ways to make meaningful improvements in these areas.

While we don’t have a finalized roadmap to share just yet, rest assured that these concerns are being reviewed and will be refined moving forward. Your feedback has been shared internally with our team as well, and we truly appreciate you bringing this to our attention. If you’re experiencing specific issues with the Pro/Premium version, we’d be happy to assist you through our helpdesk this is for us to follow .org forum guidelines. Let us know how we can help!

You and your entire developer team responsible for The Events Calendar 6.0 fiasco should be jailed, tortured, castrated, burned to a crisp, and then thrown into a sewage processing plant. How dare you take it upon yourselves to change the old Events Calendar plug-in right on the WordPress platform which has caused my old events page to be non-functional? That was truly irresponsible and borderline illegal. In addition, your team now offers person-to-person support only if I subscribe to the Pro-version. Fuck you if you think I am going to do that. Just so that you know, I decided to deactivate that plugin in my WordPress plugins site and find another events calendar plugin that is simple to set up and actually provides some kind of free support, at least until the events page is functional. FUCK YOU AND ALL OF THE ASSHOLES LIKE YOU WHO HAVE CAUSED ME TO WASTE 20 HOURS IN TWO DAYS to try to restore my events page on my website. FUCK YOU.
