• Tried installing this plugin based on the good reviews and number of downloads.
Unfortunately it crashed my site (left it hanging).
Luckily I could access FTP and delete the plugin.

Not sure if this is a glitch, bug or my setup, but I don’t have time to work through it (for a client site) so seeking an alternative option.

If this is some simple fix, happy to revisit the plugin, but there are so many choices theses days, its hard to spend time on something that isn’t working out of the box for me.

Hi, I am sorry to hear that. There have been rear occasions where the plugin crashed a website. Most of them have to do with memory overflow.

One quick way to find out is to check the error log of your web server. Maybe the problem is recorded there.

I will happily support you resolving the error, however this requires some of your time and your cooperation.

    Regards

    Hey @nickboss,

Thanks for the prompt reply. I didn’t want to review the plugin since I hadn’t had time to look into it.

The plugin installed, and I could see the settings page, and set up and copy the shortcode – but once I put the shortcode in the page I wanted, it would not reload – it just hung for numerous minutes. Then I tried reloading (nothing) and even going to the plugins page to deactivate (nothing) .. then I deactivated it by FTP and everything with the site is back to normal.

I am using THE ARK theme (which is awesome, BTW) and running WP 4.9.1. I have very few plugins on this site.

What other info do you need to try to problem-solve this one ?

    Thanks

Ok thanks for this, do you have access to the error log of your web server? There must be something recorded there.

    Hwy Nickolas,

    Sorry for the delay.

Trying to replicate the problem, I uninstalled and reinstalled your plugin, then went through the settings and placed the shortcode in my form o the page.
This time, the upload snippet actually showed up (page still took quite a bit longer to load than before) but didn’t format properly (screenshot).

The debug log shows the following:

[07-Jan-2018 15:49:21 UTC] PHP Warning: Invalid argument supplied for foreach() in /***/wp-content/plugins/wp-file-upload/lib/wfu_ajaxactions.php on line 405
[07-Jan-2018 15:50:32 UTC] PHP Notice: Undefined index: Name: in /***/wp-content/themes/ark/functions/customizable/contact-form.php(51) : eval()’d code on line 5

There may be some sort of conflict between your plugin’s JS and that of the ARK theme.

Can I see the upload form myself on the page? what is the URL? the buttons can be fixed with a little css.

Ok I got it, you have put the upload form inside another form. This is not going to work because you cannot have nested forms.

You need to put the upload form outside the other form you have.

Another more efficient way is to entirely replace the other form you have with the upload form. The upload form supports additional user fields, just like the ones you already have now.

    OK thanks Nickolas,

I’ll use the second suggestion – just means more time recreating and styling a whole new form so suit the site theme.

    Cheers.
