• At Elementor 2.8.0 I was able to activate Elementor per website on a multisite installation, as I did not want or need Elementor network activated for all sites.

When updating to Elementor 2.8.3, the site for which it was activated crashed. No access to admin and no web display of the site. Deleting Elementor at the network level fixed the crashed site — except the page being developed with Elementor would not display correctly and would have to be recoded outside of Elementor.

Reinstalled Elementor 2.8.3 on the network and then rolled it back to 2.8.0, network deactivated, locally activated for one site, as that was the situation that had worked previously. Except now, it also crashes the site. Tried activating it for another site on the network as a test, and it crashed that site, too. Had to network delete the Elementor plugin to get both sites up again.

Coincidentally, WordPress had also been upgraded, from 5.3 to 5.3.2.
… is there something happening between Elementor and the newer WordPress?

Not wanting to quit Elementor, I installed it one more time, current version 2.8.3. This time I tried network activating it. Now it works fine, sites did not crash, and the one page developed with Elementor again displays as desired.

I can function for now, HOWEVER … I should not have to activate Elementor on sites where it is not used. Hope you can return the per-site functionality.

    Thanks for all!

  • Hi,

Since your question is reffering to Elementor Pro, you’ll need to open a support ticket at my.elementor.com.

www.ads-software.com rules state that commercial products are not supported here.

I am using Elementor, not Elementor Pro, and am not seeing how I may have referenced Elementor Pro. Elementor is intended to work with multisite per elementor.com/blog/what-is-wordpress-multisite/:

When you install a plugin, you can Network Activate it, which automatically makes it active for each individual site in the network…. Or … individual site admins can choose whether or not to activate any plugins that you’ve installed, but haven’t specifically Network Activated….

I was just letting you know that the updated environment is no longer allowing per-site activation.

    Hi,

Installing Elementor on a multisite shouldn’t cause your site to crash.

Do you see any specific errors on your site?

Please try going over our guide

And see if it helps you solve the issue.
