• Hello,

There does not seem to be an option for another user to set up their own Two Factor Authentication on WordPress.

It seems that when that person logs in, they then have to go on Wordfence themselves and set up the 2FA.

I would preferably like to send them an email or a link so they can set this up after they put in their username and password. So they can’t log into their account until they have set up 2FA.

Is this an option? As it seems unsafe for them to do it themselves, as they may not do it at all.

    Thanks!

Hi @raylur, thanks for getting in touch.

When setting up 2FA for a new user role in Wordfence > Login Security > Settings, you’ll need to set a lenient grace period if 2FA will be “Required” so that users have time to log in without and set it up themselves from their Edit Profile pages. If the 2FA will be “Optional” for their role, they can also set up 2FA from the same page, but optionally. Wordfence adds a Login Security section to this page to manage 2FA where they’ll be presented with the QR they need to get started.

There’s also further helpful information and a video here: https://www.wordfence.com/help/login-security/

    Many thanks,
    Peter.

    Hi @wfpeter,

    Thank you for your message.

I think you have slightly misunderstood. I am looking to provide Administrator role access to the website for a user, but before they log in and be able to access the website, I need them to set up Wordfence 2FA – Exactly how it works when you set up a new Microsoft Outlook work email account, you cannot set up an email until you have set up 2FA via the Microsoft Authenticator App.

Under Login Security’ and then ‘Settings’ on WordFence, the Adminstrator role is set as Required, but I don’t want them to have a grace period, as I want them to set it up straight away.

Under the Grace Period section it says ‘This grace period will not automatically apply to admins and must be manually enabled for each admin user.’ I don’t want this, as I would like them to set up 2FA before accessing the website.

    Is this possible on WordFence?

    Thanks!
