• Hello to the community! Well, i am working on a project for my internship and my thesis, and I want to create a website which will have an e-shop too. I am going to be using WordPress and WooCommerce for that, but since I am completely newbie in both platforms, creating a post here makes me feel safer since I believe you will help me avoid stupid mistakes and you will give me some good piece of advice.

So, basically, I am going to be setting up a bike store, that is going to sell its products to various EU countries. The basic features I want this eshop to have are:

The customer to be able to choose accessories along with the bike purchase all in one interface. So for example, if someone wants to buy a bike, I want to show him some rain cover, or extra bag holder etc. So my idea is to create a wizard-like purchase form. In the first step he will be buying the basic product, which is a bike, and in second step he will be choosing the accessories. I found some woocommerce plugins that seem to be good for that, like Chained Products, but I am not sure that that’s the best solution. Another plugin that seems fit is Composite Products. Any suggestion on how to implement it?

The second basic feature I want is to be able to charge different prices for different countries. For this, I intend to use Dynamic Pricing plugin and I think this will do.

Now for the theme selection. I want to have a one-page theme, that works for both WooCommerce and WordPress site. For now, I have in mind Ronneby Theme, Sunday Theme, and Fullpane theme. I like the blocks scroll of fullpane theme, but I guess I can make any other theme work similarly ( https://themify.me/demo/#theme=fullpane )

Most themes have some online editor like Visual Composer which is very nice.

My final consideration is how all of the above gonna work together. Since I have no previous experience I am afraid of compatibility issues. Do you think that I am gonna have problems? I am constantly reading and watching videos, but its a whole new world for me and its not easy to understand how all these work together

  • Hi,

For the compatibility issues it is the best to check the official documentation of those themes. Also be sure to check out the FAQ regarding those.

For the plugins, you can see if the WooCommerce has it’s own extensions that fit your need. Otherwise I would also suggest looking into the documentation and FAQ of the plugins you intend to use, to avoid compatibility issues.

If the problems do occur, it is best to deactivate all the plugins you installed, and to activate them one by one to see which are conflicting with WooCommerce.
