create a site for a cinema

I am currently designing a website for a small local cinema. I found the critical theme: https://themehybrid.com/themes/critical which seems perfect for this kind of project except that I need to add a “time” to it. I love the ability to browse by genre/director/actor etc. but I need to provide another angle: browse by time so people can check whats running today/this week/next months.

Any idea how to do this? Use built-in functions? Sort by Publish date? Use calendar plugins? Any other ideas?
