Create an FTP Account – but where?

  • Hi there,

    I found this support page telling me how to use my ftp client:

    I already have FileZilla and know how to set-up that. However I can’t find anything in the Dashboard that allows me to create an FTP account. Please can someone help?
    The support article says to use CPanel but I can’t see anything clled CPanel, just Dashboard. I can’t see any administrator areas either.

    I usualy code raw in HTML5 and CSS4 so this is the first time I have tried to use WordPress for website editing. This is a friend’s charity website so I really want to be able to help.

    Any help apprecaiated is gratefully received ??

  • cpanel is where you manage your hosting ..if you have it.not everyone does..it is the most popular one though.google it

    or

    If your hosting comapny doesn’t use cPanel (a lot don’t, it’s just the most popular these days) then there will be somewhere else that you can configure FTP accounts. Normally there’s a menu item for that, but it could also be under anything to do with the hosting account itself.

    If you can’t find anything the two things to do are to chec the initial ‘Welcome” email that you got form your hosts. That normally has all of the details that you’ll need in there. If you don’t have that, contact your hosting company and ask them for the details and they will be able to help you.
