Create Block Theme plugin does not create a functions.php?

  • I created a child theme for a FSE Theme – Blocksbuilder, using Create Block Theme plugin, but I notice it does not create a functions.php. Do I have to do that manually, and if so what should it contain?

    Going forward, will the child theme pick up parent theme updates as the classic child theme does, and not overwrite any child theme development?

    For block themes, the existence of a functions.php is not a requirement.

    If you created a child theme and modify it, the parent theme updates should work as always.
