Create globalized text links

    Hi,

    Sorry if this comes across as a stupid question, but how you create simple text links only (no pics or widgets), AND make sure they globalize using the plugin? All the interface in the plugin seems to focus on units and pictures and APIs, but I don’t need any of that. I’ve put my associates IDs in for the main English speaking store and now I just want to paste an Amazon link in and have it globalize to the local store whenever someone clicks it. But can’t seem to get it to work – always redirects to the original .com link pasted in even when not in the US. How can I get globalization to work?

    Hi,

    For the first question, you have two options:

    • use the Text template (Dashboard -> Auto Amazon Links -> Templates -> Text) After activating it, go to your unit setting and select the Text template>
    • edit the Item Format unit option and leave only %title%/ A

    For the second question, enable the geotargeting option (Dashboard ->Auto Amazon Links -> Settings -> Geotargeting)

    Hi,

    OK, for the first step, I did this bit OK: “Dashboard -> Auto Amazon Links -> Templates -> Text”, and activated, so text templates are now active.

    But for the next bit you posted: “After activating it, go to your unit setting and select the Text template>” – I couldn’t find where you mean. What menus do you click on to actually set up a pure text link?

    If you don’t have a unit, navigate to Dashboard -> Auto Amazon Links -> Settings -> Default. There you can select the default template.
