• The Nextcellent Gallery plugin will no longer create thumbnails for images I upload into galleries. The images themselves are uploaded into the appropriate folder, and folder permissions are set correctly (755 on the entire directory and all sub-directories), however, the plugin throws an error, “Create Image failed. Check safe mode settings” whenever trying to create thumbnails of the uploaded images.

According to this thread I found from a couple years ago, https://www.ads-software.com/support/topic/error-create-image-failed-check-safe-mode-settings/, at the time, this issue was believed to be related to my hosting server’s “safe mode” settings. However, there is no reference to safe mode settings being displayed in my Nextcellent Gallery’s Dashboard under “Server Settings.”

Does anyone have any idea what this issue may actually be, and how to fix? I have tried all the obvious fixes. Disabled all plugins put Nextcellent Gallery, and reverted back to default, WordPress twentyfourteen theme. I also have a support ticket in to my hosting provider, who has had to escalate the ticket to their senior developers.

Thanks in advance for any help,

    Troy

UPDATE: Resetting the plugin to default settings fixes this issue. As far as I can tell, the only settings I am able to change without breaking the plugin’s ability to create thumbnails when uploading new images to a gallery, is thumbnail size, and changing the gallery settings to display the gallery thumbnail, rather than a link to the slideshow. LITERALLY ANYTHING else I’ve tried to change in the settings results in the same old, “Create Image Failed” error when creating the thumbs at image upload.

I wanted to follow up on this thread to make you all aware of this issue, so that you may be able to fix/patch it.

    Thanks,

    Troy Cono
