Has anyone had any success in creating a bunch of Att. Categories via a CSV import, editing the WP database or via some other tool/plugin? We have a hundred or so that we need to create and would like avoid doing so my hand if possible.

    Thanks!

Thanks for your question. MLA has several features for managing term assignments to Media Library items, but they are all based on terms embedded in the item metadata or assigned to specific items. There are no MLA features for creating or importing term definitions directly.

A quick search of the WordPress plugin repository shows many plugins that should help. You can start here:

Quick Bulk Term Taxonomy Creator Plugin — WordPress.com

I am marking this topic resolved because your question is answered relative to MLA, but please update it if I can be of any further help. Thanks for your interest in MLA.

    Hey David,

I really appreciate your feedback on this. I’ve never come across Att. Categories before in WP so I didn’t know if they were unique to MLA or not. I figured I could only use Att. Categories in order to group my images for a gallery and that they were something only MLA had.

I’ll look into a third party tool option.

Keep your stick on the ice,
    Chris

Thanks for your update. The “Att. Categories” and “Att. Tags” taxonomies are indeed unique to MLA. They are supplied as a convenience for users who want to add terms to their Media Library items.

They are, however, implemented as WordPress custom taxonomies and should be available to any other theme, plugin or PHP application that supports custom taxonomies.

I wish you every success with your application.
