Hi @ashokrd2013
Thanks for asking.
From the Polyglots’ team we can easily create yet another localized forum, technically, that is easy.
But before doing that, we need to know that we’ve got a somewhat sustainable team to look after the forum. Otherwise we may end up with a situation where users post questions, but nobody ever checks for spam that Akismet misses, nor cleans the queues of pending posts.
On the technical side: for the forum to “be presentable”, the following projects need to be translated:
– https://translate.www.ads-software.com/locale/gu/default/meta/forums/ (currently translated to 54%)
– https://translate.www.ads-software.com/locale/gu/default/wp-plugins/bbpress/ (Currently translated to 9%)
Once you have some 2-3 people that are committed to maintaining the forum, best next step is to post a request at https://make.www.ads-software.com/polyglots/ But before that please feel more than welcome to first chat with the relevant teams informally in Slack (I know you’re already there, but for other interested people, I’ll share the link where interested contributors can invite themselves: https://make.www.ads-software.com/chat/ ). The correct channels would be “polyglots” for “international” topics, and “forums” for questions around how we handle moderation, etc. Both these teams have weekly meetings in Slack, Polyglots uses alternating hours on Wednesdays and Support team meets Thursday at 17 hrs UTC (=quite late evening for your part of the world, but it’s an international team and there’s almost always someone around if you’ve got questions.)
In order for more people to use WordPress in Gujarati, it would also be good to have core translated, it’s currently also at 54%, see https://translate.www.ads-software.com/locale/gu/default/wp/dev/
(It may actually be in better shape than these numbers indicate, since there are some 3700 strings pending validation.
Now, since I’m one of the “Polyglots global mentors”, I really should mention that it would be wonderful if you know some people who would be interested in “activating” the #gu translations again.
