Create user with API – Disable notification emails

Dear Developers,

on our member page, new users are created by the wordpress url.
Is it possible to disable these notification emails for registration?

We already have a plugin what disables such notifications, but it works only if the user was created by the wordpress backend. If the user was created by the API, the notifications are still send.
