A blank page with only ‘error’ displayed probably means your host IP address is locked out temporarily (default 15 minutes) by the plugin due to either too many invalid login attempts or too many 404s.

‘error’ is the default message displayed for a temporary host lockout.
However it is possible to customize this message in the iTSec plugin Settings page, Global Settings section.

Basically the plugin was doing what it is supposed to do but you did not recognize the ‘error’ message as part of one of the plugin’s features.

On my site the ‘error’ message will not go away (now some twelve hours later) until I move iThemes out of the plugin directory. Then when I try to put it back the error returns. Not only that, when I open it from the SERVER it gives the same error. Basically iThemes has completely shut down my site. I’d like to get rid of it but even when I relocate it, it errors out the admin page immediately. Don’t know if its ‘advanced security’ is worth this mess.

Put TeamViewer on your PC\laptop, invite me and I will be more than happy to guide you towards a solution.
