Creates featured image but not video

I am also using the Sahifa theme and have the same problem. It creates an image from the video and shows only the featured image on my posts. If I add the shortcode [featured-video-plus] into my post, then the post displays the featured image first, and then the video underneath – which looks like a duplication (a picture of the video first without a play button and then the video itself underneath).

Sorry, I cannot publish a public link to my site … it is still under development.

Have the same problem on ElegantThemes Divi Theme where I can’t get anything else than a featured image or both featured image and video below.

Also another dumb question, how exactly should I write the short code in my posts to get it working? Have looked everywhere and can’t find a single example which I think is rather strange, most people probably know but for a novice and first time wordpress user its not as easy ??

Should I do it like this?

Or this?

Or some other way? ??

Sorry guys, as noted in the description not all themes make use of the WordPress native the_post_thumbnail function, which is where the plugin hooks into. You would need to modify your theme’s source code manually and make use of the the_post_video function.

Is there any good tutorial on how to do that Alexander? Also, can you confirm how I should use the short code?

The shortcode actually has no advantage over just using WordPress native embed functionality as described in the docs: https://codex.www.ads-software.com/Embeds

Hi Alexander, I hope you can help- I am having the same problem with video not showing, just a image thumbnail. I’d like to have the home page show the actual featured video for the blog post, and then when in the full blog post i’d like to have a large video at the top (not an image)

i’ve tried to figure out what and where I should be putting the code examples found in previous support threads, but i can’t for the life of me work it out!

I am using the nova-lite theme, and have made a child for all my changes my site
