• Unconscionable conduct creating false usage data to force user to upgrade.

I caught them red-handed when they sent me a screenshot of my alleged usage exceeding 10,000 words per day on the free version, on the very same day I reported the plugin was locked and I was unable to use it.

The usage data shows that I exceeded 10,000 words in just 25 minutes.
My whole website does not contain 10,000 words.

The developer insisted that the plugin is right and I am wrong.

I deleted the plugin. I have no tolerance for scams and unconscionable tactics to force the upgrades.

    Hi there,

First of all thank you for your review and taking time to modify your original one.

We do confirm that during the past week we were in contact you trying to explain how the plugin works, how the usage calculated and offer alternative free options.

We admitted the fact that we failed to provide the explicit/clear explanation of how the usage is calculated on the official plugin page which might caused this misunderstanding. However, when we did provide it in private correspondence, it wasn’t taken into account.

To avoid any further misunderstanding and guesses how the usage calculated we published a detailed FAQ about it.

My website exceeded word usage quota. What does it mean?

We do not force anybody to upgrade to the full version as long as they are OK with these limits.

The Free version is limited to 10,000 words for a single website aggregated for all users per day. Once the aggregated usage for a website exceeds this number, the plugin stops checking text until the next day (00:00 UTC-0) and the next error message will be shown on the plugin’s settings page: “Word usage quota for the free plan exceeded. Contact support for more details.”

I edited my original review as it was simply too long. I stand by what I said.

Your private emails to me were taken into account. However, I stopped replying as you kept repeating the same explanation which doesn’t make sense, instead of addressing my questions.

Since you have decided to reply to my review on this public forum, you should explain here how your plugin generates the usage data when it is LOCKED, not working and NOT USED – as this is a curious phenomenon which I have the evidence of.

And not just the usage data, but showing over 10,000 checked words in just 25 minutes! WOW. It must be operating in a parallel universe.

    @magicpowers,

The comprehensive description how the usage is calculated with an example (the same we shared with you) is provided above as a link to the FAQ. There is no magic or scam behind this. Advanced users also can explore how often and when the requests are made in the browser network tab.

As for now we did all our best to resolve this case and offered a list of options but none of them was taken into account:
    – Admitted and apologized for any confusion and misunderstanding with the usage mechanism. Explained in detail how the plugin works and what are the usage terms of the free version. As a result we also added public FAQ explaining the usage terms to the other users as well.
    – Offered an alternative product of ours, the browser extension, that is provided at no additional cost and without usage limitations.
    – Offered the alternative products developed by other companies that can work with WordPress-based websites.

Yes, we do not admit the false statements that the plugin generates false usage to force users to upgrade to the Pro version.

Please advise what else can we do?

explain HOW and FOR WHAT PURPOSE your plugin generates the usage data at the time it is LOCKED and NOT WORKING hence NOT USED, showing over 10,000 words checked in 25 minutes.

That would be a magician’s trick – showing something that doesn’t exist.

Alright, the answer to your question with detailed explanation is provided here:

My website exceeded word usage quota. What does it mean?

Since we do not track or collect all the user actions in terms of the plugin usage such as the exact page is edited, how many words on it, how many times the text was modified, how many times the page was reloaded while being in the editable mode, we are NOT able to say exactly how you ended up exceeding the daily usage limit. But even in 25 minutes it is possible.

This is my final reply. I posted a review of your plugin for the benefit of other users and yours, not a comments thread.

Either you don’t understand my question or you have no answer for it, and so you just keep ignoring it pretending you don’t understand.

For the last time – and I can’t be any clearer than that:

Please explain WHY and HOW your plugin generates the usage data at the time it is LOCKED, NOT WORKING and NOT USED on the site.

“LOCKED” is the operative word here.

I will read your explanation (if you have one) but will not reply or comment here any further.
