• I have created a WP site for a client that is comprised of only pages not posts. They will be requesting a blogging portion of the site soon and I’m getting confused with the various explanations on how to go about doing this. Site is https://ubsassociates.com

All content are made up of WP “Pages”.

I would like to have a separate blogging section at https://ubsassociates.com/blog/.

I’m afraid to mess with the permalink structure setup for the site since it is presently live after weeks of hard work. Can I have multiple permalink structures for different parts of the site? Do I even need that?

Any help would be appreciated. Thanks!

  • Why not just create a new category called Blog, make it the default category for the site and create all other categories as children of this one?

Thanks for the diving into this post, Esmi. But what about the permalink structure? Won’t that mess things up or no? Right now the default structure is /%postname%/ which i’d like to keep for all non-blog related items and have /blog/%month%/%day%/ for the blog items. I might be missing the point by a hair or by a mile, so sorry if I’m way off the mark ??

Won’t that mess things up or no?

No. You should still be able to keep your current permalink structure but you cannot have a different structure for Posts.
