• Hi everyone,

Is there an easy way to figure out which template my theme is using to create archive page (I have tried talking to the theme creators but they haven’t been able to help me)?

I am trying to customize this page: https://www.alphabetpublishingbooks.com/writer/taylor-sapp/ and all other archive pages with at /writer/*

There are no DIV tags there so I would like to create a custom archive page that does have a DIV tag so I can add an image via CSS. I’d like to copy the existing archive page but I can’t figure out which template file creates that custom archive page. I was hoping someone here might know an easy way to do that.

    Thanks!

looks like you are using a pro theme which volunteers on this forum to do not have access to.

suggestion if your theme’s support team is not able to provide guidance: start to learn about template hierarchy in a theme — this might help you to create the theme template files you desire.

@contentiskey Thanks. I’m working my way through the structure slowly. 10 years ago, I’d have no problem but these new themes, every page broken into little parts makes it hard.

The codex link is definitely helpful, though!

Agreed, some themes have separate template files for display of “the loop” on pages, posts, search etc.

Some themes have many individual files for the different archive and single post displays. For other themes, you need to add your own if you need something special.
