• I’m trying to transform my site into a multi-site network with all my other sites that also use wordpress.

I was reading the codex and it says that can’t create the network if the wordpress is in a separate directory?? for example, my site is https://saanamsmind.com but my wordpress files are on https://saanamsmind.com/blog/

what would I need to do for it to work?

Also, regarding the sub-domains and sub-directories.. well my main domain is saanamsmind.com and i have sub directories under that with all my other sites.. each having its own directory.. which go to their own domain. so its not like https://site1.saanamsmind.com or https://saanamsmind.com/site1 in my host cpanel, i have add-on domains so its https://site1.com/blog/

do i need to change anything for these sites or just the main site by editing the config.php file?

You;d need to move all the WP files to the root.

You have to pick subdomains or subfolders to start. then you map the domain to that blog.

and no, you do not touch the config file to do this. you’ll need to export the content from the other blogs and pull then in to the network. WP networks cant go find extra installs for you.

So basically I should move all my files to the root, i don’t need to change anything right? just move the files?

Which is better of the two? Sub-domains or subfolders?

exporting the other blogs will come after i’ve turned the main site into a network..correct?

You’ll have to change the settings in the backend of WordPress to not point ot the subfolder any more. Settings -> General. Then you shoudl be okay.

“better” how? There’s many factors. the most important is if your host supports the wildcard subdomains. Find that out first.

I’d export the content out first, in case the other sites become inaccessible (they shouldn’t but we’re covering bases here). then enable network. then make the new sites & import the old content.

Okie, everything seems to have been successful when I created the network. However, now with creating the new sites in the network, it all seemed okie.. until I go to the site: https://saanamsmind.com/poetry it takes me to the error page of https://saanamsmind.com whereas it should take me to the actual poetry site https://poetry.saanamsmind.com

Any idea what I’ve done that I shouldn’t have?

Also, I did import the content from https://poetry.saanamsmind.com
