creating a Page Template question

  • Hi, I’m trying to create a page template that shows the default blog sidebar, my site is set up as a static site and the blog page doesn’t function because there are no links to categories ect.

    What I want to do is keep my whole site the same but make a page template for the blog page that uses the default wordpress theme (rather than my custom theme) then I will just edit the css to make it flow nicely with the look of the rest of the website.

    I’ve read the codex:

    I understand it but I don’t see where it hints as to how to do this. Anyone able to help me out?
