• I’m about to delete a large number of old posts from my blog (using the mass post manager plugin), but for posterity’s sake I’m looking for a way to create an easily readable local archive first. Just keeping the db backups around isn’t very browsable, and my built-in xml export function seems to be broken beyond repair.

Does anybody have any ideas how to easily save, say, single post html for all posts within a category?

    Thanks.

Why are you deleting the posts from your blog in the first place? Converting them to static files would just make them take up a lot more space.

They were private, but the category visibility plug I was using isn’t supported by 2.3. So I just want to be able to browse them locally at my own leisure, but delete them from the site. Honestly, the XML export would be good enough for me, but it stopped working — so I’m looking for some sort of other way to keep a readable archive on my local machine.

I’m experimenting with creating an archives.php template that does what I want but I can’t seem to include the comments there, and saving every single post page by hand will take way too long.

I realize this is a bit of a stupid problem, but it’s a problem nonetheless…

Clicking on Extend (top of this page) > Plugins and searching you can find a category excluder plugin that works with 2.3.

Thank moshu. Advanced Category Excluder looks like it’s going to do the trick. I spent quite a bit of time looking for a plugin but somehow missed this. Thanks again.
