    Hei,
I have a multi site with two languages, English and Russian. I have now opened two more, a German and a Spanish one. The German is ok, , but the drop down menu in the plugin doesnt show the Spanish language. It only shows, Russian, English, German and Chinese.
What do I have to do to get the Spanish language showing up as an alternativ in the drop down meny in the plugin?

Thanks in advance for your answer ??

ok, now I’m a bit lost. Usually its one of the other admins who do the stuff in the WP-content, and its in the middle of the night in his country now ??

I know how to douwnload plugins and activate them and all that. But when you say “WP-contant/language” i’m not sure what you mean. Sorry for my lack of knowledge.

You could try to use a plugin like WP Native Dashboard to install a new language but I’m not sure if this will work for you. BTW The whole process will be much easier in one of the next WordPress releases.

We have managed to add the language package for Norwegian. But we have problems with the Spanish and vietnamese. Only Norwegian has Language Pack, others could only replace the original WP files without any alternative or choosing new language.

The language pack should have .mo files, and not .php

these are the links we found to Vietnamese and Spanish on the list you refered to above.

    Any help for this problem?

Sorry but didn’t get it. Do you installed these language packs too or not?

Yes, I want to have multisites in Spanish and Vietnemse too, and I found the links to Norwegian, Vietnamese and Spanish in the list you linked above, but only the Norwegian link was possible to add in WP as an additional option to the ones we already had as standard (Russian, Chinese, English, German). The Vietnamese and Spanish could only be added if we acceted to change the original language.

Where do you have to accept to change the original language? Do you added already other sites to your multisite? In a multilingual multisite you will have a site for every language in your network.

We have opened a site for each languages. When we go to the settings to chose languages, we only had the options “Russian, English, Chinese and German) Today we already hae a Russian dn English site,a nd we have also opened a German one who is under construction now. So far so good.

We have also opened (still not published) a Spanish site, a Norwegian and a Vietnamese. But since we dont have the language option in todays setting on our site, we have to add the specific language packages,a nd we found the links to those three languages in the list you gave us link to. But only the Norwegian language package was possible to add, the two other language packages requested that we changed the basic languages to that language, and that we of course dont what to do.

The Norwegian package was easy to add, so now our chices in teh setting are “Russian, English, German, Chinese and Norwegian”.

OK, I see. BTW If you need Spanish you could download the es_ES language-pack. Anyway … I checked these two languages (es_MX and vi) and yes, they don’t offer a separate language-pack but a complete WordPress installation. So you can download these installations, unzip them in a temporary directory and copy the files from /wp-content/languages in your languages directory.

    Let me know,
    Dennis.

Thank you, will try that one.
The one who do this for us is occupied with some private important stuff the next days, but we will do it as soon as possible,a nd I’ll keep you posted.

Thanks again for your help ??
