You can add a text file in the affected directories with your ‘notes’ or add remark text to the affected files when you edit them. Sometimes the inline remarks are best.
Either way, test a backup after you created it with your notes to make sure they were saved in the case of the added files. The changes with REM statements should be in the affected files. Some backup programs filter certain files so you need to check if you added a complete file.
I usually print out anything (the whole file) when I make big changes and ‘red pencil’ notes on it then save it in a binder on the bigger projects. The red pencil acts as an alert during future troubleshooting.
Rem statements work good for smaller changes… especially parameters and variables.
