• Hi!
I view wp-admin/categories.php and 2 categories show up: general and the one I just created.
When I view the site only general shows up.
    I am doing something wrong.
Where can I look for what?
    Thanks!

  • Have you made a post into the new cat ?

By default WP hides empty categories, which seems to only make sense. Once you put a post in that category, it will show up. If you check out the wiki in the Template Tags section you’ll find the entry for Category Tags. Clicking on list_cats or wp_list_cats will take you to the pages that show the paramters. One of those is the “hide_empty” paramter which it turned on by default. Setting that to FALSE will allow empty categories to show.
This is good to know when you get into sub categories too, and even though there are posts, in the child categories, if there is no post in the parent cat, the parent cat still doesn’t show (by default).
