• Hey all, I’m a pretty new wordpress user, and I’m loving it.
I’ve been browsing through plugins but haven’t quite found exactly what I want, and was wondering about the best way to approach this.
I would like a download manager, for tracking downloads and keeping files up to date. I’m using the WP-DownloadManager plugin right now, which is working fine, but ideally I’d like each file to have it’s own page, with it’s own URL, and the option to add comments, images, and links to that page. It would be kind of set up as though each file were it’s own blog post that people could comment on, but I’m not sure if there’s any way to keep that separate from a main blog, and also be able to organize the posts however I like.
Ideally this would all be automated by an awesome plugin that I haven’t been able to find yet, otherwise I’m open to exploring other ways to get it working.
    Thanks!

Mike Jolley’s download monitor is probably the best fit of the ones I have tried. I don’t think it can be configured to create a page per file automatically, but you can make a new page or post as normal & include a simple shortcode which will output the title, link & description (plus date/time added, version & filesize if you want)

Does anyone think there might be a plugin that does what I’m looking for? Otherwise, I think I’d probably want to go the blog route, rather than pages, so I could use tags and categories. I already have an existing blog, so is this how I go about creating a separate one?

thanks for the reply, by the way, cubecolour. I did like the download monitor, but it didn’t like me uploading python scripts, so I decided to go with WP-DownloadManager.
