I am trying to create a drop down list for people registering… custom field…

I am getting an error that says:

    Option Configuration File:
    Invalid configuration at line #1.

I have tried everything, even starting over, and only putting 2 choices in there. Still same thing.

Can you please tell me what I am doing wrong?

also, I tried it in every browser. And this is a new website, not tons of plugins, etc. so not sure how a conflict could be in there if that is what is causing it…

Most likely you type some “wrong” character. Use only alphanumerics and low caps as ID.

    I tried just two:

    Accountant Personal
    Accountant Business

just to see if it would work. It did not, so then I tried:

    Accountant1
    Accountant2

    still it did not work.
I seen someone said to put a / behind it so I tried:

    Accountant Personal\
    Accountant Business\

    that did not work.
    So I tried:

    Accountant1\
    Accountant2\

    still did not work.
    Same errors.

Okay, I also deactivated every plugin, 1 at a time, kept clearing the cahce and reloading the general option page, and trying to add the custom field again. Same issue, no matter what.

So then I tried changing the theme to the pre-installed Theme that comes default with WordPress. Same result.

So it must have something to do with the s2member files.

Would it be easier for me to add the custom field directly in the database? if so, where does it store the fields?

I mean the “unique ID”, which is set when you create the field, not the field name.

Oh. The unique Id, I set this way:

    niche

    just that single word.
then for the Field Label I put: Your Industry

OK, so this should be set. Then you must set “option values” and “option names” pairs, divided by | (vertical bar), did you?

wow, that is what the problem was. My bad. I thought if I did not put a value/label, that the option would be there for BOTH. my bad.

    That fixed it.

    Thank you so much!!
