    Dear Community,

my task is to create a new version of the above mentionned Website.

The above mentionned Website is hosted by: world4you and has been created with WordPress – Divi.

(no child theme has been created)

I want to build a new Website using the TT4 theme.

I know I can change the appearance. That is clear to me. But the problem is, the doctor wants to have a stable site with the old layout, till the new Website is ready and approved by him. So how can I work in TT4 on the old Website and then once I have his approval turn the old one off and use the new one?

Hope you do understand my problem and can help me. If something is unclear to you please kindly ask. So far I have now created a Divi Child and a TT4 child. I would like to work in the TT4 child theme but then I have to switch the appearance and I am not allowed to do it till the approval. Which work around can I choose?

Thank you so much in advance,

    Wish you a nice day!

    Greetings from Vienna ??

    Hi @hellblauervogel

What you can do is to ask the client to create a sub-domain like dev.augenarzt-landstrasse.at (provided they have enough storage space on their server) so you can clone the existing site over and create the new site using TT4 theme. If they do not have enough space, then what I normally do is to clone to my own server for development.

Once done, you can clone the new site back to replace the existing site.

    Hope this helps!

    Hi @hellblauervogel !

Another idea for this is a ‘staging site’. Some web hosts have this facility as a part of your package/plan, where you can clone the existing site and work with the new design on the cloned site, instead of the live site. When you’re done and satisfied, you should be able to merge the work done on the staging site back to the live site.

You can ask your web host about whether they have this option, and utilise it, if they do.

From what I can see at the host’s website though, they may not have that option though it won’t hurt to ask. If they don’t, you’d need to rely on setting up a subdomain and clone the site manually instead, as raytan12 mentioned above.
