Creating wp_nav_menu to select list for mobile devices

I’m debating whether to look into adding a second wp_nav_menu (+ walker) in a theme to create a select list for mobile users or simply loop through my existing wp_nav_menu with jQuery and build it that route.

Just looking for your thoughts if there are any best practices for this…
