    Hi there,

Since the latest update, PayPal button and credit card fields are loading very slow.

I’m not using any caching plugin, please fix it as soon as possible this is really critical urgent issue, we are losing 40 percent of our customers just because of that.

I have video record of customer journey and after they have completed the billing information they are unable to enter the credit card information because the fields are not available.

There is nothing wrong with other plugins/theme/server files, I have tested anything possible to fix the issue but the issue is the latest update of the Braintree plugin. Also please update to the latest Braintree JavaScript v3 SDK. (v3.28.0)

The issue might be from this recent change when I was reading the changelog:

“Tweak – Only load the Braintree scripts when required on payment pages”

Is there any way to load the Braintree scripts even before customer enters to the cart/checkout page?

I can see that there are many other users that have the same issue and this is really disappointing to see you haven’t fixed it yet in 24 hours. This is really urgent matter hope you understand.

Thank you in advance for you empathy.

    Hi Tad and others,

I’m really sorry that there’s an issue here happening! We do have standard troubleshooting steps we need to run through in order to diagnose problems. Sometimes they seem like they’re not necessary or that we don’t think you would think to do these things – but that’s not the case. They’re both necessary and they’re steps we need to have confirmation that have been carried out exactly as described.

Although we do have a handful of folks here with a similar issue, we have more than 100,000 active installations of the plugin, and we track issues that occur with frequency for the developers to triage. When an issue crops up that affects fewer people, we dig in to see if we can figure out what that common thread is, because unless it’s affecting a wider group of people, the likelihood that it’s something with the plugin itself is actually rather slim. Instead, we look to see what that common thread might be, and what we can do to help everyone get sorted ASAP.

Sometimes, toggling the extension on and off does the trick! And that’s great – but that probably won’t work for everyone, so we would keep looking. Caching is a very likely culprit in these cases, and since caching can happen at the server, the router, the computer, and the browser, that can take the longest to get diagnosed. Some hosts also use drop-in plugins that cache in the background, but aren’t available in the plugin list – and can only be deactivated by the host themselves. These are usually labeled “drop-in” plugins. Sometimes those are the culprit.

The changelog you noted about “Only load the Braintree scripts when required on payment pages” does feature a fix for very slow load times on the checkout page. It relies on AJAX, so you may want to check with your host that AJAX is working correctly on your site and not getting blocked anywhere.

    Cheers!
