    Hi

I am building a site that includes paypal credit card payments as an option using this plugin.

I have a Downloadable virtual Product that costs $5 AUD and when i try checkout and click the standard Woocommerce PAY NOW button (this feature activated in this plugin to replace the paypal buttons) there is no Credit Card Payment option available, only a LOGIN TO YOUR PAYPAL option.

    HOWEVER:

If I add another virtual product (a course) that costs $49 AUD – and checkout in the same manner, ONLY THEN does PayPal offer the credit card payment option in paypal.

Is there a minimum transaction amount for credit card payments? Is there somewhere in PayPal that I should be looking? Is there are setting in this plugin or some sort of restriction on min payment amounts?

Any assistance would be MASSIVELY appreciated.

    Thanks so much.

    Hi @supadigital

Is there a minimum transaction amount for credit card payments??

Not within the plugin, but PayPal likely has internal logic that restricts available payment methods based on the order amount. Once you’re redirected to the PayPal payment page, the plugin is no longer in control of the checkout process, that’s all PayPal code.

Unfortunately PayPal doesn’t publish a description of how their internal logic works for rendering payment methods so it’s a bit of a black box.

Can you share a link to the $5 product that you’re testing?

    Kind Regards

    Hi

Thanks so much for the response, much appreciated. I 100% understand that this is most likely a paypal restriction of sorts. Nevertheless, as requested, please see the $5 product below and then the $49 dollar product link further below – which DOES have the credit card payment option:

I look forward to any feedback and thoughts. Especially appreciated as I understand this is slightly out of your scope.

    Thanks again!

    Hi @supadigital

With the $5 product in the cart, I was still able to use a credit card as a payment method.

Here is a screenshot showing the option to use a credit card after signing in to PayPal:

    Hi

Normally the Credit card option is available IMMEDIATELY – BEFORE having to sign in to PayPal, so that customers without paypal accounts can make credit card payments. This is the case with the Course for $49, but not the case for the $5 payment.

    Any thoughts?

Thanks again for liaising on this with me.

    Hi @supadigital

Here is a screenshot showing the card option as being available before signing in, for the $5 product.

Once the customer gets to the PayPal hosted payment page, the plugin logic is no-longer in control. PayPal, for whatever reason, seems to have some conditional logic in place for determining when the credit card button is available. In my case, the button appears (using private browser mode).

    Kind Regards

Thanks so much for the feedback and for checking it all out. Much appreciated. I totally understand that it’s a paypal thing. Slightly annoying, but I will see if there’s something I can do with PayPal to ALWAYS offer the credit card option.

    Thanks again. Much appreciated.
