  • Hey Gareth,

It sounds like PMPro might not be the best option for what you want to do. PMPro doesn’t have any kind of credit or messaging feature like that out of the box, and is mostly used for restricting access to content instead. What kind of site did you have in mind/what are you trying to do exactly?

    Thanks,
    Jess

The idea is to have a job board, that “free users” can set up an account and post jobs with,

then have a paid member account, who would be able to view the jobs, but it would cost them credits to contact the “free user” who put the job up and say they pay £20 for 20 credits (for example), then sending a message to a user who has put a job up may cost a credit?

    many thanks

    Gareth

This would definitely require a ton of work and custom code, but it should be possible to do what you want with PMPro actually.

    • For the free level, set the billing details however you want.
    • For the paid level, you could make it non-recurring, but set an expiration date, so that users have to “renew” (buy more credits).
    • Credits would be handled by some custom user meta that you give to the user with the Register Helper addon. You can set it so that only admins will be able to edit/view this from the user’s profile page.
    • Depending on how you set up the messaging, when the user messages another user, edit the user meta.

I’m sure there are a ton of other issues you could run into, but that sounds like a basic of idea of how you could get a system to work like that.

If you need further help using those hooks/filters/etc, please consider becoming a PMPro member for our member support forums.

    Hope that helps!

    Thanks,
    Jess
