I am trying to send badges to Credly. I have activated the Credly integration and created a Credly account. I’ve mapped the fields and created a new badge, setting it to be shared with Credly.

When I create a new badge in the WordPress site, there is a link in the Featured Image box to Use Credly Badge Builder. When I click on this I get this error message: “You must pass a valid badge builder token to continue.” The instructions for passing that token seem beyond the scope of general plugin use. Is this step necessary for sending the badge to Credly?

If I use my own badge image, and set the badge to be shared with Credly, there is a field for “Credly Badge ID”, but it is greyed out, so I can’t add anything there.

I have also tried creating badges at Credly, thinking that there would then be some way of pushing them over to the WordPress site. But if that option exists somewhere, I can’t find it.

So does this integration still work? What do I need to do in order to send badges from WordPress to Credly?

  • I know the integration is working! I just used it last week.

Based on what you’re describing, here is what I would try.

    1. Go to the Credly Integration area under the BadgeOS menu.

    2. Turn the Enable Badge Sharing via Credly OFF

    3. Delete the API Key information

    4. Save at the bottom

    5. Turn the integration back on, login and save.

Now when you create a badge, try using your own image (not the badge builder).

Of course, make sure you have toggled on the option to share at the bottom of the page when creating an achievement (it has to be done for each individual achievement).

If after you publish, you do not see a badge ID number in the Credly Badge ID field, then we’ll try plan B. But most of the time, deleting the key and resetting works.

      >>> We are unable to reproduce the issue, could you please explain the issue a bit more. What other plugins / addons you are using with BadgeOS? reproducible steps? and you can send your own badge images to credly.
    2. If I use my own badge image, and set the badge to be shared with Credly, there is a field for “Credly Badge ID”, but it is greyed out, so I can’t add anything there.
      >>> “Credly Badge ID” field is populated automatically by the plugin when you publish the badge.

Thank you, Susan! That did the trick. If I could award extra points for clarity and thoroughness, I would.

After following the steps Susan described the Credly Badge Builder also works.
