The reason for the error should be visible in the error log. You can find it in your hosting area. If necessary, the support of your hosting can help you.

Alternatively, you could also enable debugging in WordPress. How to do this is described here: https://www.ads-software.com/support/article/debugging-in-wordpress/ – also here the support of your hosting can help you if necessary to edit the file accordingly.

In both cases you should be able to see what the cause is in the logfile.

What exactly is it failing? Is there nothing to see in the error log? And nothing in the debug log either? Then I would recommend you contact your hoster’s support so they can check it.

This is the answer I have received from the hoster’s support (Host Gator):

Thanks for the patience. I have tried accessing WordPress dashboard and its working fine without any errors on my end.You can click on EDIT SITE for the domain at https://www.hostgator.com/my-account/hosting/details

So basically, everything is ok on their end,
