• In response to a recent email from WordPress I up-graded to the latest version. Got a message to say that I had successfully up-graded. Now, I cannot access my website nor the website admin. and get a message ‘Critical Error’. Website is[ redundant link removed ]. Advice appreciated, please.

  • I would recommend checking the error.log in your hosting. There you should be able to see the cause of the error. Your hosting support should be able to help you with this.

    Alternatively, you can also put WordPress into debug mode as described here: https://www.ads-software.com/support/article/debugging-in-wordpress/

    Sorry for the trouble.

    1. Could you please enable the wp_debug and check if there is any error behind this wired issue?

    2. If you don’t find any issue then I’d like to suggest you reinstall WordPress. So if there any file is missing or corrupted then it’ll auto fix.

    3. You could also go to the browser console when you’re on the WP dashboard and see if there are any errors.

    After giving a try to all of those, post the update here so I could further investigate. ??

    Many thanks for your interest/advice. My hosting support has reverted me to the previous version so that I can ‘work’ while they investigate further. Will up-date.
