Hello – I have been using Wilson for the above site since 2014. It’s a great theme. My current version is 1.36. I have a child theme activated, with a lot of css style customizations and I also have some CSS in the customization area in the dashboard. When I update the theme to 2.0 on a local version of the site, the site breaks completely and is unrecognizable. Also, there is an error on the homepage that says ‘There has been a critical error on this website. Learn more about troubleshooting WordPress.’ The plugins I am using are gravity forms, really simple ssl, wp total cache, email log, all in one SEO, classic editor and updraft plus, and these are plugins that I use on a regular basis on many sites. Do you know of any conflicts with any of these plugins and your theme? By the way, I tried updating the theme with all of the plugins disabled. Either way, the site breaks and seems to be beyond repair.

Do you have any advice on how I can update the theme without major issues? Thank you.

    Hi @helga64,

Glad you like it! It’s likely a conflict between code in the child theme you’re running and changes made in Wilson.

One of those changes is that the wilson_nav_walker custom menu walker was removed, since it was no longer needed due to updates in Core since Wilson was first released. If you plug header.php in your child theme, you need to remove the line mentioning wilson_nav_walker from the wp_nav_menu() arguments.

Thank you for the quick reply! Your suggestion worked. I removed the walker line, and the site pretty much functions as it did before. I really appreciate your help.
