• I updated a couple plugins, and now I am having this critical issue error. “There has been a critical error on this website. Please check your site admin email inbox for instructions.” Unfortunately, the email address that help is being sent to, is to the original caretaker of the website, I am now the 4th operator. The email was attempted to be updated, but the very original email wouldn’t go away. I also do not have the correct username/pw for the hosting website to contact support there either, to try to fix the plugin issues that way. Any password reset emails I believe are going to a previous email that is no longer is in use.

    Help!!!

Try manually resetting your plugins (no Dashboard access required). If that resolves the issue, reactivate each one individually until you find the cause.

If that does not resolve the issue, access your server via SFTP or FTP, or a file manager in your hosting account’s control panel (consult your hosting provider’s documentation for specifics on these), navigate to /wp-content/themes/ and rename the directory of your currently active theme. Hopefully, this will force the default theme to activate and rule out a theme-specific issue (theme functions can interfere like plugins).

You will need access to the hosting account in order to do all of this, so I recommend that you start by contacting their support: https://www.inmotionhosting.com/support/amp/submitting-and-checking-on-status-of-tickets/#immediate-help
