• Hi

I have a problem with my WordPress blog. I can see the frontpage with all blog titles but when I attempt to open a post, I get the following:

There has been a critical error on this website.Learn more about troubleshooting WordPress.

I had problems a few months ago trying to access revisions and a member suggested that I disable all plugins, and use one of the default (Twenty*) themes. If the problem went away, to enable them one by one to identify the source of my troubles.

I did this and this is the result.

I would appreciate some help pleaee

    Many thanks

    Brian

Errors like this are logged. Check the error log on your server. If you can’t find the log, please contact your host. Meantime, enable wp_debug and wp_debug_log and after an error, look at wp-content/debug.log to see if anything gets logged there. https://www.ads-software.com/support/article/debugging-in-wordpress/

You can also try to disable plugin/theme:
    – Try manually resetting your plugins (no Dashboard access required). If that resolves the issue, reactivate each one individually until you find the cause.
    – If that does not resolve the issue, access your server via SFTP or FTP, or a file manager in your hosting account’s control panel, navigate to /wp-content/themes/ and rename the directory of your currently active theme. This will force the default theme to activate and hopefully rule-out a theme-specific issue (theme functions can interfere like plugins).

    Thanks for this.

From past experience, if I delve under the bonnet of wordpress, I just bugger everything up. I can just about manage to host the site and publish posts. Anything more is outside my competency.

Can you recommend a WP expert I can pay to set everything right again. I’m reluctant to go down this road as I’m not exactly made of money but see little choice.

    Thanks again
