Critical error on this website when submitting contact form

  • Hello, when submitting a contact form on our site, we get “There has been a critical error on this website.”

    1.- I have access to the site and site admin once I refresh or go back. This only happens when you submit from the website’s contact form.
    2.- I have Google reCAPTCHA on the form and keys added in settings. I’ve tried both v2 with checkbox and v3, and get the same error.
    3.- The form works when I’m logged into the WP admin, but it doesn’t work when you submit the form outside of the WP admin (logged out).
    3.- I don’t have WP Mail SMTP installed so this is not an issue.

    I have 4 comma-separated email recipients on the form (in case this helps). The weird thing is the form works fine if I’m logged into the site as an admin, but not as a third-party user or in another browser.

    Update: I rolled back the PHP Selector in my cPanel from 8.0 to 7.4 and now the form seems to be working, but the page is very slow to respond with the confirmation to the user. it just sits in sending… Any thoughts on a fix?

    Thanks for sharing the update about the issue being resolved. For the slowness of the form submission, I’d recommend you check the error logs of the site and it would be worth reaching out to the hosting provider regarding the site being slow.

    Also, I was able to submit the form https://casaheuer.com/contact/ without any delay.

    Hi again, I was expecting a little more feedback on the PHP issue, as to why the form stops working when running PHP 8.0 or 8.1 and if this is a compatibility issue with the cPanel PHP version. Again, when rolling back to 7.4 it works, but not with a higher version. Thanks again.
