Since last Thursday (10-12-2020) I get a “There has been a critical error on this website” WordPress error. By using WordPress troubleshooting mode, I have identified that “AX Social Stream” plugin causes it BUT only when “BackWPup” and “Smart Slider 3 Pro” are also enabled.

Here are details that I found out:

    – None of these 3 plugins are causing any errors by themselves.
    – BackWPup and Smart Slider 3 Pro plugin both enabled: no error, seems that everything works.
    – BackWPup and AX Social stream plugins enabled: The feed doesn’t load on AX Social Stream plugin, shows empty. But no critical error.
    – All three plugins enabled: WordPress shows this instead of page content: “There has been a critical error on this website.”

The same happens regardless of the theme used.

The problem appeared when AX Social Stream updated to version 3.8.4. BackWPup version 3.8.0 and Smart Slider 3 Pro version 3.4.1.14. Today’s AX Social Stream update to v33.8.5 didn’t help on this error.

I’m also submitting this to the other two plugins dev teams for info, but since the problem appeared after AX Social Streams update to 3.8.4, I think there is something there that should be fixed.

    Kind regards,
    Ulla

Thank you for the report, both 2 plugins are paid plugins, so we can’t make reproduce them. But I pretty sure this caused by library conflict( multiple plugins using the same library but with a different library version ), which we already aware of and currently working on.

Please keep us posted when there is any feedback from them.
    Thank you!

    Hi @duongcuong96,

Thanks for your comments! I had both Smart Slider 3 Pro dev team, as well as AX Social Stream dev team looking into this problem.

This is what I get when php error logging is on:

[16-Dec-2020 14:10:55 UTC] PHP Fatal error: Uncaught Error: Call to undefined method GuzzleHttp\Utils::chooseHandler() in /usr/home/mysitename/public_html/wp/wp-content/plugins/ax-social-stream/library/guzzlehttp/guzzle/src/functions.php:61

This problem could be reproduced by Smart Slider 3 dev team, and AX Social Stream dev team advised me as follows:

The problem is where our plugin is using Guzzle library and the BackWPup plugin is also using the same library but with a different version. We are using the latest version of Guzzle library in our plugin. You need to contact the author of the BackWPup plugin and ask them to update the Guzzle library to the latest version.

I hope this helps. Are you able to get the info you need from this?

I have been receiving the same critical error when trying to update BackWPUp for months – requiring me to roll back to v3.6.3 each time.

In my case the plugin conflict is with Contact Contact Forms:
